We now have a social work service within our Centre. What can they do?

Social workers will listen to your story and assist you to explore your options and choices. Social workers can provide practical assistance to access services specific to your situation. For example, accommodation, Centrelink payments and services, counselling and support groups, financial assistance and health services

They can also work together with the lawyer to identify and address issues that you might be experiencing as we know that sometimes the legal issue you want help with is only part of the story.

  • Short term counselling
  • Information, advice and referral
  • Community education, and
  • Community development

Who is the Social Work Service for?

Our social workers are available to clients also  receiving legal assistance. The Social Work Service is available at the centre during normal office hours and by appointment only.  Clients can ask a lawyer to refer them to the social worker or telephone reception on (07) 5532 9611
