The Gold Coast Community Legal Centre provides the entire Gold Coast community with free legal advice and assistance, community legal information and referrals.

We’ve been informing and assisting the Gold Coast since 1984. Our mission is to provide free holistic and caring legal assistance services to support and empower people most in need.

The Gold Coast Community Legal Centre is the Gold Coast’s only funded and accredited full time operating Community Legal Centre. We operate from 8.30am until 4pm Monday to Friday.

We service the entire Gold Coast community. Specifically, we open our doors to all 540,000+ Gold Coast residents, with the exception of suburbs outside the Gold Coast boarder where they are unable to access legal assistance in their area.

We provide advice and assistance by way of face-to-face, phone or video appointments. Additionally, we aim to establish collaborative projects with other Centres in Queensland to better assist, support and inform the Gold Coast community.

Our Centre provides initial legal advice which is not means or merit tested so residents of the Gold Coast can access our service. However, further ongoing assistance and casework is provided at the Centre’s discretion to vulnerable people who are most in need, including those who are unsuccessful in a grant of Legal Aid and do not have the resources to fund their own private legal assistance and representation.

Our Solicitors

We have 9 employed solicitors who come from diverse backgrounds with varied knowledge and experience. Our solicitors see multiple clients a day, either via phone or face-to-face, with occasional time allocated for casework responsibilities. Additionally, our solicitors take time to provide the Gold Coast community with legal information by way of seminars, information talks and attendance at relevant conferences and events.

Our solicitors are working to capacity based on funding allocations so please understand our high appointment demand if you have difficulty booking an appointment. All our solicitors are admitted by the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia and hold current Queensland Law Society practising Certificates.

Volunteers

We open our doors to law students who seek to gain experience in the practical side of the law whilst still undertaking their studies. All students are interviewed and trained accordingly to ensure they comply with our Centre’s policies, procedures and legal obligations. Students volunteering at the Centre work under supervision of management staff.

Please call us on 07 5532 9611 if you need an appointment relating to any of our legal advice services, or complete our online Booking Form.
